Myopia control · For growing eyes
Slow down rising power in growing eyes.
If your child's glasses power goes up at every check-up, myopia control lenses may help. They correct vision clearly — and are designed to help slow how quickly short-sightedness progresses.
Come in with your child and we'll explain whether they're a good fit.
Sharp vision
A clear centre zone corrects short-sightedness, just like regular glasses.
Designed to slow myopia
Tiny lenslets around the centre change how light focuses at the edge of the eye.
Works with good habits
Outdoor play and screen breaks add to the benefit.
Regular check-ups
Progress is reviewed every 6 months as your child grows.
Why myopia in children matters
Myopia (short-sightedness) usually starts in childhood and tends to increase as children grow. More screen time and less time outdoors mean it is becoming much more common. Higher myopia later in life is linked with a greater risk of eye problems, so slowing it down early matters.
Regular single-vision glasses correct blurry vision but don't slow progression. Myopia control spectacle lenses are designed to do both: a clear centre for sharp vision, and a treatment zone of tiny lenslets around it. Clinical studies have shown they can slow myopia progression in many children compared with regular lenses, especially when worn all day. Results vary, and your eye doctor may also discuss other options.

Myopia Control Lenses FAQ
Questions about myopia control lenses
Who are myopia control lenses for?
They're mainly for children and teenagers who are short-sighted and whose power is increasing. Starting early tends to help most.
Will they cure my child's myopia?
No. They are designed to slow down how quickly myopia increases — they don't reverse it. Your child will still need glasses, but ideally with a lower power than they would otherwise reach.
How long should my child wear them?
All day, every day works best. Children usually continue wearing them through the years their eyes are still growing, with check-ups every 6 months.
Will my child see clearly with them?
Yes. The centre of the lens corrects vision clearly. Some children take a few days to get used to the edges of the lens.
